WV Law Professor to Appear Before Commission
The County Commission is very fortunate to have retained Professor Robert Bastress of the West Virginia College of Law as its counsel to guide the Commission concerning Marcellus Shale. Professor Bastress will appear before the Commission on Tuesday August 23rd at a Special Meeting. The first portion of which will be devoted to a public discussion of the Morgantown case in which Professor Bastress represents the City Council and a general discussion of State control vs. local control issues/property rights as regards surface and oil and gas/liability issues of property owners for environmental damages beyond their property/nuisance/takings/obligation of contracts/ etc. The second part of the meeting will be in executive session in which the Commission will consult with Propfessor Bastress, as its legal counsel, as to how it might go forward in Pocahontas County on this important issue. |

I know Professor Bastress and his WV Delegate wife personally. You will not find two better stewards of the environment and in Bob Bastress you will not find a more astute person on matters of state constitutional law. |

How much are we paying him? When did the county vote to hire an outside attorney? Is this another Robert Martin? |
