Farm Bureau

Just got the latest Farm Bureau magazine and in it Charles Wilfong is implying that drilling can be successfully regulated and is manageable for the environment and farmers with proper legislation. I disagree. As I said at the public meeting, even if every single needed regulation were in place to monitor and spoke to water quantity and water quality etc. etc. it does not change the hard fact that in a gas field life here will drastically change and our peaceful unspoiled environment will be gone forever. Period. Generations following us will only know the beauty of our lives from photos as their lives will be upon the waste land left behind. And I also feel Mr. Wilfong is not being honest with his readers and himself when he believes that this monster can be regulated without problems and ruination of the environment. As a farmer, I would hope he might re-look at what he and his organization is inviting into our lives.

Re: Farm Bureau

In the photo which accompanies Mr. Wilfong's article I see him standing in front of a beautiful hay field with round bales off in the distance. It is, as it should be, an idyllic representation of farming life. What I do not see is a large compressor station with diesel motors operating day and night, nor do I see pipe lines and cuts through farm land and woods, nor do I see operating drilling rigs going 24/hrs a day, nor an unending processions of trucks with water and sand and other pieces of heavy equipment crowding our small byways, nor do I see adjoining farms and homes and homesteads choked by surrounding gas fields.

Re: Farm Bureau

What is the figure on gross revenues from agriculture in Pocahontas co.? Not counting Forestry, that will we cut regardless of what gas drilling is done.
