Base Line Water Testing Recommended

I suggest that every person in the county who uses well or spring water get it tested by the County Health Department as soon as possible to develop an over all base line for yourself and for the County because if drilling comes the water will go!

I have several good springs on my North Face property. One is really impressive. How does one go about having it tested?

Call Mr. Henderson at our Health Department and ask him the protocol.

Here is a mimimal perimeters list for the predrilling.

Gas Pre-Drilling testing parameters includes:
Alkalinity, Chloride, pH, Sulfate, Surfactants,Total Dissolved Solids, Total Hardness, Turbidity, Arsenic, Barium, Chromium, Iron, Sodium, Total Organic Carbon
If memory serves me it will cost about $275.00. If you anticipate this to become a basis for legal action it will require a certified sampler, chain of custody, blind study, and performed about three to four times in different seasons.
I recommend REIC out of Beckley, but before you have them perform the service tell them their results may be part of a court case.
If your water is affected, it would be wise to test for the following on one of the sampling events, these metals will cost about $15.00 each.
Aluminum, Antimony, Beryllium, Cadmium, Chromium, Copper, Iron, Lead, Magnesium, Manganese, Mercury, Nickel, Selenium, Silver, Thallium, Zinc
