Acting Police Officers

This is for Marty's information. I regularly check the oaths of office in the courthouse. While looking for Jim Love's oath of office (it wasn't there) I ran across four or five strange oaths of office, people I don't know. I have the oaths on my site. Are these some kind of mercenaries?

Re: Acting Police Officers

An Open Letter to Judge Pomponio:

Dear Judge Pomponio:

We seem to have a problem in Pocahontas with a failure to take an oath of office by Assistant Prosecutor as well as the Sheriff's Aux force. Currently, we are embroiled in a conflict with Assistant Prosecutor, Jim Love who has no recorded oath of office in the Official Oath Book of Pocahontas County. I have been monitoring this for about two weeks. He and I had a personal encounter the other day along with Donna regarding his lack of an oath. As you well know, a public official has no jurisdiction nor authority to do anything before he takes his oath of office.

Jim Love has been in office for two months or more. During this time he has not registered his oath of office with the county clerk (see attachment) I informed Melissa Bennett of this and she immediately informed Donna but still a week later he has yet to register his oath of office. Now he is claiming that you were going to register him yesterday in the clerk's office. (I checked out the code and it says that He (Jim Love) has to file his own oath of office. I haven't checked with that office at the end of the day but I suspect that he was lying to me and that is why I am notifying you that he is holding you responsible for registering his oath which BOTH HE AND DONNA CLAIM THAT THEY TOOK BEFORE YOU IN COURT. If so, I need validation from you that he has taken his oath of office and when he did it. If he is lying to me and has not taken an oath of office then his prosecuting work is null and void and constitutes a "get out of jail free card."

Please consider this a freedom of information request under WV law and respond in the affirmative if he has taken his oath of office and when. Donna said that he took it at the same time she did but why would she taken an oath of office half-way through her term? Email response is fine if in the affirmative. It might be appropriate to advice himself to get down to the clerk's office and file his own oath of office.

P.S. After this let's get to work on those sheriff's aux taking their oath of office. My home was searched by the sheriff's own teenage son who was a sheriff's aux.

Also you should be aware that we have four new sheriff's deputies making 14 altogether. The latter four are unknown to the people of the county. And of course I trust that you are aware of the spy station the sheriff has set up at the Durbin magistrate's office. It is connect directly to the sheriff's office. Thankfully, Marty Saffer is on the issue and that he has informed you of this matter. Marty is obsessive about civil rights as well as myself. We are trying to figure out who authorized this freak illegality. I hope it wasn't you or our two magistrates! Perhaps Sheriff did this on his own. You will remember he obtained a search warrant which you signed for his own office and the state police labs.

This county is very corrupt! Please help us!

Yours truly,

Norman Alderman

Re: Acting Police Officers

As a former county commissioner, I can attest to the fact that the sheriff nor any other elected official in Pocahontas County can hire any extra person without permission from the County Commission, and this must be done during a regular called meeting of the Commission. Did I miss something in the commission reports? When was these purported extra deputy sheriffs hired, let alone who are they. And one more, where in the world is all the extra county taxpayers money coming from to hire these people, along with the new elevator project, the over and above money above the grants to complete the East Fork Industrial Park, the new courthouse steps, now new court house lighting. Instead of a gas well, I think the Commission must have struck a gold mine. I know that tax revenues are falling, mostly because of the property evaluations at SnowShoe and I also know that we are just about to the maximum on tax rates. We're going to be in big trouble one day if the revenue outlays don't slow down. Just my humble opinion.....Thanks for reading.

Re: Acting Police Officers

I’m so glad that someone is rooting around in the courthouse checking on taking of oaths by government employees. Employees function so much better after taking an oath. It’s like magic. IQs increase exponentially after the oath. There’s something about the oath that increases the work ethic. Many employees who were barely awake before taking the oath come in and work on Saturday after swearing to whatever it is they swear to, to do whatever it is they swear to do. We need to clear this up right away. I expect everything to be better after the oath-taking. Most of our problems will melt away.

Thank you John!! You see there is plenty of money in hidden places. 14 deputies.

Here's is the big question: Did the civil service board approve of these deputies?
